People Stuff is an event for leaders who want space to think more deeply and creatively about how to work with others.

In our experience, most leaders already have enough models, frameworks and five-point lists. What they have less of is the time, space and opportunity to find the right answers to the specific challenges they face. For example, the team dynamics that keep surfacing, the strategic question there’s been no space to think through, the pattern that keeps playing out in how they lead.

People Stuff is three days away from the urgency. Not to escape these challenges, but to get closer to them. To experiment with different ways of showing up and responding. To find new solutions.

Our work is about spaciousness, presence and clarity. We help rushed people to slow down, to see and connect differently. To benefit from the insights and experiences of others - and find an alternative to the fragmented, individualistic thinking much of modern life generates.

The event will be long on enriching experiences, and short on teaching and advice. We’ll use some of the inspiring spaces Cambridge can offer, but the most important ingredient will be shared experience of working together as a diverse group of leaders.

Our team

People Stuff has been created by Mark McCartney, Katie Elliott and Johnnie Moore.

We share an approach to working with groups that is rooted in spontaneity, presence and exploration. Between us, we have many decades of facilitation experience with a huge range of groups. We really like people - and one another.

Here’s a snapshot of our individual experience and our personal websites:

Johnnie has facilitated meetings on five continents (and is open to working in South America and Antarctica). His work is inspired by his training in both psychotherapy and improv theatre. He's tutored on the Oxford Strategic Leadership Programme and is on the visiting faculty of Homerton College at Cambridge University. He’s the author of Unhurried, an approach to creating more spacious and creative conversations.

Mark runs What Is a Good Life?, a long-term inquiry based on more than 300 in-depth conversations about meaning and purpose. He also developed Silent Conversations, a method using structured silence and reflective dialogue to support clearer thinking in complex environments.

Katie is the founder of Curiosity Works. She also runs the Little Challenges project, which explores the ‘messy’ business of being human. She hosts the Adventures in Behaviour Change podcast and regular online events. Earlier in her career, she was a jazz musician, and still loves nothing better than creating spaces for people to listen, create and play together.
